Frequently asked questions
What are Xylitol and Hydroxyapatite? What about the rest of the ingredients?
Xylitol is a sugar alcohol we source from corn cobs, which is more sustainable than sourcing from birch trees. It is low-calorie, so it is a common additive to food and drinks. The lesser-known benefit is that bad oral bacteria like S. Mutans cannot digest it, and so such bacteria are inactivated and killed in the mouth when it comes into contact with xylitol, thus leading to less plaque, fewer cavities, and less bad breath.
Hydroxyapatite is a naturally occurring compound of calcium and phosphate. In fact, more than 96% of your enamel is made up of it. XYNAMEL's source is the shells of mussels. If introduced in tiny particle size within the mouth, the teeth can actually uptake hydroxyapatite to remineralize on a micro and nano scale. Beyond that, hydroxyapatite can inhibit bad bacteria from adhering to your teeth, making it an excellent 1-2 punch when combined with xylitol.
Everything else:
Natural Flavour to make the delicious and new XYNAMEL formulations that you love.
Gum Acacia serves as the binding base to combine the active ingredients and is naturally sourced from Acacia trees.
Magnesium Stearate is a non-toxic powder used in trace amounts to form the ingredients into a compact dry tablet form, and not stick to the mint-making machines.
Who should use Xynamel?
Short answer - Anyone with or without teeth, of any age. The benefit of reducing harmful bacteria in your oral microbiome is hugely beneficial.
Some populations that XYNAMEL is particularly beneficial for:
New moms - Research shows that due to the inevitable exchange of saliva from mom to baby, frequent xylitol use in new moms makes for a healthier oral and gut microbiome within their babies.
People with braces / Invisalign / dentures / other appliances - XYNAMEL can help to lower the buildup of plaque and bacteria in/around your oral appliances, thus leading to decreased cavity prevalence.
Frequent travellers - Brushing your teeth on an overnight flight is often forgotten, and here at XYNAMEL we completely understand. Rather than falling in and out of sleep with flight breath, pop in a XYNAMEL to refresh breath and rid bad bacteria in the mouth. The active ingredients will decrease the fuzzy feeling on your teeth while giving your breath a refresh.
How should I add XYNAMEL to my daily routine? When should I use it?
XYNAMEL is a welcome addition to any existing brushing and flossing regimen, no matter how thorough or not it is. Throughout the day, if you feel like your mouth needs a refresh and you need a tasty, healthy pick-me-up, pop a XYNAMEL or two. You can repeat this as much as you see fit throughout the day, whether it is a day full of extracurriculars, networking, or having fun! Doing so will keep your oral microbiome in check, your teeth free from cavity-causing bacteria, and your breath as fresh as can be.
Note - in excess (more than 10 per day), xylitol can act as a mild laxative. If you find yourself in this scenario, simply reduce your intake to fit your personal limit.
IS this safe around pets?
Xylitol is toxic to our little furry friends! Please ensure you are keeping your XYNAMEL tins out of the access of cats, dogs, and other household pets. If XYNAMEL is ingested by your pet, visit a veterinarian immediately.
